Devenir Jaguar is a research-creation project that reflects on the contemporary crisis of inhabiting through micropolitics and autofiction. Emerging from the artist’s migratory experience, the project begins from the premise that migration fractures the notion of roots—historically linked to states, borders, and sedentary ways of living—opening instead a space to imagine other forms of dwelling. In this context, animal becoming appears as a strategy of re-existence. The jaguar emerges as a totemic figure through which to reinvent oneself: an ontology of movement that carries its own territory in its skin.
At the center of the project is a cotton gauze textile (210 × 200 cm) embroidered with the artist’s own hair, collected over a four-year ritual (2021–2025). This biological trace on the transparent surface forms what the artist calls an anti-home: a fragile structure that displaces the migrant subject toward a condition of being-in-transit.
Rather than a fixed installation, Devenir Jaguar functions as a migratory space that adapts to each context. The textile can become installation, performance device, shelter, or site for collective imagination. The project also includes video pieces documenting the ritual gestures of combing and embroidering the hair, a video-performance recorded on the shores of the Río de la Plata, and an artist book composed of personal archives. Together, these elements trace a passage from the melancholy of the lost home toward an identity shaped by the territories traversed.

Devenir jaguar es un proyecto de investigación-creación que reflexiona sobre la crisis contemporánea del habitar desde una mirada micropolítica y de autoficción. A partir de la experiencia migratoria de la artista, el proyecto parte de la premisa de que la migración fractura la noción de raíz —históricamente vinculada a estados, fronteras y formas sedentarias de vida— y abre un espacio para imaginar otras formas de habitar. En este contexto, el devenir animal aparece como una estrategia de re-existencia. El jaguar surge como una imagen tótem a través de la cual reinventarse: una ontología del movimiento que transporta su propio territorio en la piel.
En el centro del proyecto se encuentra un textil de gasa de algodón (210 × 200 cm) bordado con el propio cabello de la artista, recolectado durante un ritual de cuatro años (2021–2025). Este rastro biológico sobre la superficie transparente configura lo que la artista denomina una anti-casa: una estructura frágil que desplaza al sujeto migrante hacia una condición de ser-en-tránsito.
Más que una instalación fija, Devenir jaguar funciona como un espacio migrante que se transforma según el contexto. El textil puede activarse como instalación, dispositivo performático, refugio o espacio de imaginación colectiva. El proyecto incluye además piezas de video que documentan los gestos rituales de peinar y bordar el cabello, una video-performance realizada a orillas del Río de la Plata y un fotolibro compuesto por archivos personales. En conjunto, estos elementos trazan un tránsito desde la melancolía por el hogar perdido hacia una identidad definida por los territorios atravesados.
